“How to Recruit 20 People in 30 Days”

A few years ago Eric Worre did a webinar about how to recruit 20 people in 30 days. It remains to be one of the best trainings I have ever seen in Network Marketing. He put together the content as a result of interviewing 30 (or so) million dollar earners in Network Marketing. It is a “big picture”overview (there are plenty of other granular trainings about specifics of “what to say” or “how to build a list”) of what to do to become a 6 or 7 figure earner in network marketing.  He busts some myths, gives you real data about how many people you need to talk to to recruit 20 (personally enrolled) and gives REAL TALK about what it takes to be in the top 1% of network marketers.

Myths:

Slow and Steady wins the race: Sadly, this isn’t true. There is an old network marketing saying that says “if you recruit one person every month, and they recruit one person every month, in 12 months you have 4,098 people”. That looks great on paper, but I have never seen anything close to that ever happen in real life. The bottom line is one person a month is not exciting. It’s not a story anyone wants to tell. It’s not a movement anyone wants to be a part of. Eric uses the example of an airplane on a runway. You can’t push the throttle down by 20% and expect to get off the ground (even if you are a “part time” pilot). The same is true in Network Marketing. You gotta give it 100% for a short period of time (even if your a “part time” Networker) until it gets off the ground… THEN you can go slow and steady for a bit.

Don’t Quit: Obviously in order to be in the game you need to “not quit”. So it’s important. But the myth is that the act of “not quitting” is what makes you successful. There is no tenure in network marketing. No prize for “sticking around”. If you want to make a 6 or 7 figure income, you have to do the work. There are many examples of people who didn’t quit; who still go to meetings, still use the product, still read the books, who are dead broke. “Sticking around” does not mean you will be successful.

Money:

What would it be worth to you if you recruited 20 people in a 30 day (doesn’t have to be the next 30 days) period?

Success Loves Speed:

Worre talks about the difference in RESULTS of enrolling 20 people in 30 days VS (the same) 20 people in 20 months. This is the most important and impactful part of the entire webinar. I can tell you from my own experience, NOT ALL TIME IS CREATED EQUALLY.

Think of it this way. If I gave you 90 minutes at Disneyworld and they were the first 90 minutes the park opened (you were first in line) how many rides could you go on in 90 minutes? What if I gave you those same 90 minutes at 6pm on a day all the kids are off school? Same 90 mins right? Yet a very different result (you might go on zero rides in 90 mins). The same is true about recruiting. Same 20 distributors. But having them all start at the same time VS starting one a month for 20 months… massively different result. If you are going to make a 90 day run, here are some questions you need to ask yourself first:

– Level Of Commitment (Are you going to quit on day 4?)

– Clear Your Calendar (What would you need to change in your calendar to create a blitz?)

– Sacrifice (Can you give up a hobby for 30 days?)

– Negotiate with Family (Get buy-in that they will give you 30 days to run hard)

– Eliminate ALL Distractions (Could someone else grocery shop for you for 30 days)

– Your Existing Team (“For the next 30 days I need you to let me run”)

– Fresh List (Make a fresh list of people to contact)

– Sharpen your Skills (But most of the “learning” will be in the “doing”)Math

Math:

What does it take to recruit 20?

Worre breaks down the numbers of how many people you will need on your list, how many call you will need to make, how many appointments you will need, and how many presentations you will need to do in order to recruit 20 personal business owners.

 Normally                                                          Blitz

20%                    Percentage Who Join You                   40%

      100                              Presentations                                   60

      125                              Appointments                                  90

      300                                      Calls                                            150

      500                                       List                                             300

 Check in:

I’m going to stop here for a quick check in. If you are anything like me, these numbers are WAY different than what you were first expecting when you joined the industry of network marketing. Usually the business plan is to just recruit a few people, and then sit back and wait for the power of compounding to kick in. Well, if you want to play it that way, that is totally fine. There are plenty of examples of people who signed up, caught some good timing, referred a few of the right people, and make a great 6 or 7 figure income. But I am telling you now those are the exceptions to the rule. You can sit around waiting for those lottery numbers to come up, or you can take it into your own hands.

You might look at these numbers and say “wow, that is a lot”. But here is the thing, you are asking for a lot!  Whatever your goal or dream is… I bet that it is unreasonable too.

There is nothing saying you HAVE to do this. If you want to make a few hundred bucks a month, then follow another plan. This is simply what it takes IF you want to make a 6 or 7 figure income. And if it seems like a lot of work, what are you comparing it to? Think about what else you would do to make a 6 figure income.  Become a dentist? No problem. That looks like 4 years of studying. 4 years of working for free. 270k-420k in tuition costs. Long days. And once you’re done? Time to START working (and paying off that student loan).

If it took you a year and a half to build a list of 300, 30 grueling days to recruit 20 people, and another 6 months of working with those new recruits to get to a 6 figure income… is it worth it? Would you do it a few times over the next 10 years if it meant making a 7 figure a year income? That is for you to decide. For me it’s a no-brainer. And there are hundreds of examples of 6 and 7 figure earners who have already done it. Heck, ask your upline what they did.

Self Evaluation:

So it’s time to quick self evaluation, and then we can move on to the DOING.

Do I actually WANT to be a 6 or 7 figure earner?

If the answer is no, that is cool. There are plenty of other strategies that will help you make a few hundred dollars a month. Make sure that you are clear with your upline what your goals are. Sometimes they assume that everyone wants to make a 6 figure income. They might come off pushy, when really they just misunderstand your goals.

Am I willing to work crazy hard (the hardest I have ever worked) for 30 days?

This is what separates the 95% from the 5%. If the answer is YES, make a big deal about it. Put a start day and an end day into your calendar. Tell your family. Tell your upline. Do whatever you need to do to get leverage on yourself. One quick thing: expect people to give you attention and respect as soon as YOU DO IT, not as soon as YOU TELL THEM. The more successful your upline is the more often they HEAR from people about what they are ABOUT TO DO. Go put in 20 people in 30 days and I bet you will have all the help and coaching you want the next month.

Do I have a list of 300 people who know, like and trust me?

This is a very important part of the equation. If the answer is yes, then skip down to the next part… it’s time to start your 30 day run! If the answer is NO, then you have two options.

A. You KNOW 300 people but don’t have them on a fresh list.

B. You need a way to meet people and grow your list to 300.
(My favorite way is by using meetup.com)

Taking Action:

1. Story.

Create a story about your 30 day run. Why you? Why now? What is your mission, your driver?

2. Pick a 30 day chunk.

It doesn’t have to be tomorrow. Just pick a time, put it in your calendar, and commit to it. (if you don’t have a list of 300, then guess how long it will take you to build your list to 300)

3. Start your 30 Day Blitz

A. (First 10 Days)

Massive “Reaching Out” section.
Contacting, Invites, Presentations. (As many as possible)
Full Time 16 hr/day
Part Time 8 hr/day

B. (Second 10 Days)

Massive “Follow Up” section.
Follow up, 3 way calls, exposures, handling objections.

C. (Last 10 Days)

Massive “Decision Collection” section.
Closing (Stories and Questions), and launching new people.

Conclusion:

The bottom line is that everything that Eric Worre said on the webinar is stone cold fact. Personally, I recruited 25 people in about 21 days. The interesting part is that I did most of what he is describing, but I did it a few years before ever seeing this webinar. That means it’s possible. You can do it.

It won’t be easy. You might fail, and have to try again. Maybe you will need to take some time to build up your network. You will probably have outside forces that stop you. Maybe some bad luck or random urgent things that pop up. At times what Eric Worre is suggesting is going to sound totally unreasonable. But you know what?

Your dream is unreasonable. You are asking for a lot.

Don’t ask for “reasonable”… ask for possible.

Don’t ask for it to be easy, ask for it to be worth it.

Jimmie

P.S.- It’s worth it.
